With wood beams, air vents, and spider plants, The Heartland Cafe feels like a big barn that was renovated a while back. Kids run around and live music plays while folks dig into mounds of low-cost, stir-fried and steamed vegetables, and big, comforting bowls of soup. The motto here is "Good wholesome food for the mind and body," and it used to be all vegetarian. But, now they serve farm-grown poultry and beef along with fish and tofu to a neighborhood crowd. Breakfast is very popular, as is the outdoor seating. When you`re done, stop by the shop which sells henna, teas, and t-shirts.
Visiting Heartland Café, you`ll find a place that serves patrons an American and Mexican cuisine an emphasis on vegetarian meals. Expect the average entrée to cost between $8 and $12.
