Luna Si almost lives up to its misspelled name: the slightly schizophrenic atmosphere varies depending on the management of the moment. Under the original owner-chef Paul Luna, it was a little frenetic and not very welcoming. It`s a much more pleasant place to dine nowadays; the staff is helpful and attractive, the decor interesting, and the eclectic menu well presented. They encourage writing on the walls -- presumably you could give them a bad review on the spot, but not many have done so.
With a contemporary American and Continental menu, this is an upscale establishment. Expect the average entrée to cost over $20, and there`s a prix-fixe menu at $35-$40 per person. Plan to dress casual, but fashionable.
Atmosphere: The restaurant`s overall structure was influenced by European architecture. The facility has a modern and elegant 1930`s Italian neighborhood feel. The interior is accented by warm tones, enhanced by displayed works by local artists, and the lighting is soft. Exposed brick is a striking feature at this restaurant, and tables are covered with linen tableclothes.
The restaurant is small with seating for 75 people, and is cozy and comfortable and relaxed and patroned by all kinds of people. Table talk is no problem here - noise level is unobtrusive. Also, you`ll notice that there is a visible kitchen.
More Reasons to Go: Legacy 1931 is appropriate (if not ideal) for entertaining clients, birthdays, anniversaries, other romantic evenings, groups and private parties; also, the restaurant is often frequented prior the theatre and has an appropriate pretheatre menu for such occasions. When weather permits, enjoy outdoor seating.
