Dark, rich wood paneling downstairs, working fireplaces, and a turn-of-the-century gold-leaf ceiling upstairs give this 20-year-old survivor lots of character. It`s a conservative neighborhood place, catering to an older crowd. Choose from the ricotta gnocchi with tomato and basil, the veal chop stuffed with prosciutto and cheese, or the simple yet exceptional pastas that are rigorously consistent in quality. Chef Richard Lercari`s favorites include the mozzarella in carroza stuffed with prosciutto, rolled in parmesan and glazed with anchovy sauce, and the green and white pasta with shrimp, zucchini, garlic and tomato.
