When you walk into this restaurant, you step out of New York and into New England for an evening of updated, elevated American fare. Warm your hands by the flickering fire in the charming front room/bar, then order the finnan haddie and new potatoes chowder, or the house-cured gravlax, to start. Follow with braised lamb shank and mashed turnips with Michigan cherry sauce, or bacon-wrapped quail served with crisped sweet potato fries.
