Victor Corral and family have been advancing the popularity of Cuban cuisine in New York since 1962, when they opened their first restaurant on Columbus Avenue. With a move to the theater district, the menus at Victor`s Cafe now offer an even greater selection of traditional Cuban and Mediterranean dishes. Signature dishes include ropa vieja -- shredded skirt steak with savory sauce, marinated suckling pig, and lobster in a peppery, beer-based Creole sauce. Fried ripe plantains and black bean soup are popular starters. Rattan chairs and bamboo-covered walls beneath a large atrium evoke a sunny, plantation setting. Bold colors, tropical drinks, and mambo music in the air create a party-like atmosphere
Specializing in a Cuban menu, this is an upscale establishment. Expect the average entrée to cost $20 to $30, and patrons are quite appropriate dressing casual, but fashionable.
Atmosphere: You`ll be able to take in the city and skyline view from many seats at this establishment. The establishment has a contemporary and elegant décor. The interior is enhanced by antiques.
