Serving traditional, family-style Italian fare, Sambuca is kid-friendly and great for large parties. The menu features tasty dishes such as mozzarella in carroza, fried calamari, pasta bolognese, chicken scarpariello, and veal chop milanese. The dining rooms are very dark (as dark as you will find on the Upper West Side), the staff is very attentive,and the portions are -- you guessed it -- very large.
If you go to Trattoria Sambuca, you`ll find a place that focuses on southern Italian dishes. Expect the average entrée to cost between $12 and $20, and you`ll be appropriate if dressed casual.
