A long, narrow boxcar so over-decorated with lights and party favors it`s got the feel of Las Vegas glitz. Rolled white napkins stand at attention like long horns, and it`s frequented by a knowing, groovy crowd who like the schmaltz as much as the cheap prices. There are lots of curries and good breads, such as alu paratha stuffed with spiced mashed potatoes and peas, and shrimp poori cooked Bengali style. The house soup, with chicken, garlic, ginger, cinnamon and cardamom is a bracing tonic. BYOB is encouraged.
If you try out Rose Of India, you`ll find an eatery that focuses on east Indian. Expect the average entrée to cost under $8.
