The open kitchen sends forth heavenly scents, while the back dining room exudes a springtime fragrance from a mammoth bush of flowers. There is fiesta-like decor in this rosy-hued space, which has been presenting the best of classic Mexican cuisine for the past 12 years. Owner Josefina Howard devised the menu of sweetwater prawns with black-squid rice, beef short-ribs marinated in beer, crepes of cuitlacoche (similar to black truffles) covered with creme fraiche and mascarpone cheese, and grilled filet mignon with a wild mushroom and tequila sauce. Great guacamole is made tableside.
