Injera is meant to be sour - It is not baking soda my friend...it is made from fermented whole grains, which gives it its signature taste.... hence the spicy and flavorful food (the watts) it is served with is meant to balance this. Next time, try less injera and more watt per bite. Senziro, Chicago - Is follow up to post by feliceo ...
I went to Ethiopian Diamond with a large group, and the wait staff was very friendly and cordial although the we waited for 45minutes for appetizers which were served with the main course. However, overall the enviance was very nice. We ordered Yesig Alach, doro Watt, Gored Gored and a Lamb watt. The Gored Gored was extremely spicy tough, rare and inedible. However all of the other dishes were mediocre except the lamb which was fantastic. To accompany the mediocre food was the injera. But the injera was unbearable. The injera was tangy, salty (perhaps too much baking soda) and I was unable to eat it. Overall my dining experience was pretty good if you don't take into account the mediocre food. -- 7/22/2007 10:34:18 PM
