The only thing that saved this experience was the steak ... but of course, steak is the most important thing at a steak house ...
There was no atmosphere where we were seated in this small and crowded place. The tables were so close together that we didn't dare move (definitely not a place for the handicapped). The wait staff was just that: a staff you waited for. They brought us cold rolls with no butter. Blue Point Oysters (for $8.50) were gritty and not cut well served with catsup and lemon; but no cocktail sauce. The Caesar salad at $6.50 was small (no anchovies).
All side dishes were $4.25 and were ample portions. Garlic mashed potatoes might have been good if they were warm. Creamed spinach didn't have a chance at interesting me. The asparagus was hardly steamed.
By contrast, the steak, a 15 to 16 oz sirloin was prepared to perfection for $28.95. The feel of the steak knife in your hand made you know the house valued weight and comfort for meat. This steak was made just for me! Definitely one you close your eyes to and savor ...
Dessert? We found that back at the hotel ... but if you want a steak to dream about, Frankie and Johnny’s is the place!
