Now the web page says it closed in July 2008. That *isn't very good. I used go out to the old restaurant (just north of the Dunlawton Bridge) back in the 1988-1990 time frame. Used to love the grouper served with rice and hush puppies. Oh well, that is what happens when you come back to visit a place 15 years later! Daytona Beach has changed from the late eighties and with it the loss of a place I remember being great. (edited)

I believe the "active website" you found on the Internet [www.sweetwaterz.com] is for the new Sweetwater'z located in Ormond Beach, FL - a few miles north of Daytona. The old Sweetwater's was sold for condos but the GM and a new partner have opened up a new restaurant up the road. Sweetwater'z Bar & Grill is located at 437 S. Nova Rd, between LPGA Blvd and Granada. It is not the same as the old place; it is now a bar & grill but the food is great. The restaurant now offers a wide selection of items including the meatiest, best-tasting wings around, as well as sandwiches, angus beef burgers, wraps, appetizers, entrees, and the signature "Dreamin' Salad" that you may remember (with that great hot-bacon/mustard dressing and a slice of banana bread homemade from their kitchen). They also have a draft beer system that allows them to serve the coldest beer in town. The atmosphere is different than the old Sweetwater's but it is still very beautiful, and clean, and offers you a choice of high-top or table seating from which to enjoy all their great menu offerings. They also have take-out and a children's menu. Their staff is friendly and courteous. Some of the familiar faces from the old restaurant are there too. I encourage all of you to check out the new restaurant. I think you'll be as pleased as I was. -- 3/2/2008 4:41:40 PM
