the ox has defintely gone down hill. when walter owned it, the food was excellent. he died 2 years ago. when the new owners first took over, it was pretty good fare. they wanted to keep some of the ox's traditions (Nov=game month) but it seems that the chef left and now the food is at best so-so. the wings are very good but everything else is catch as catch can- Is follow up to post by coughk29 ...
I recently dined at the Blue Ox with a party of
15. There was a party of 20 there at the same
time, but they left without ordering. I wish we
would have followed their lead! It took an hour
for the food to come out, it didn't come out
together, and it was not cooked properly. Cold
soup, cold appetizers, RAW SALMON! The
dining experience was awful, and when I
tracked down the man in charge (a Mr. Magee)
he refused to take me seriously. Though I was
courteous and professional (speaking as a
food-service professional myself), he turned
his back on me and left. He told me to publish
whatever I want.
