My experience at Chapman's was terrible. Some of us arrived early to sit and have a drink in the bar area, and we were rudely told that we couldn't sit there because my brother was only 20 -- despite the fact that both his parents are sitting right there with him and he wasn't going to be drinking -- just their policy. So we were rudely whisked off to our table where it was so cold most of us wanted to keep our coats on. It was a party of 12, and they were extremely slow in doing anything. Once we were seated, they took forever to take our drink order, forever to bring us our wine, forever to get our order, forever to bring the appetizers, forever to bring salad, and forever for the en trees. And the place was practically empty -- now I see why! The food was incredibly salty, worst prime rib ever, terribly dry steak, got both salmon order's wrong then the waitress wanted to argue that it wasn't her fault, they changed the menu. Ran out of the wine we were buying by the bottle and the best they could get us (we wanted a sweet white) was a carafe of Beringer white zin. The salad was WET, and it tasted like eating wet lettuce with watery dressing. The crab cakes were ok, but nothing more special then you would find in a freezer section at the grocery store. The veggie of the day was limp underripe broccoli with over steamed zuccuni and summer squash and I got three tiny red potatos entirely covered with salt. The prime rib was serve in a puddle of juice, so it got all over the potatos and veggies, instead of in a cup on the side. And it tasted like a cheap chunk of beef, without any of the butteryness or smoothness that prime rib should have. None of my 12 diners enjoyed their entree, although to be fair, the tomato and gouda soup was fantastic. And then they had the audacity to include a 18% gratuity for us because we were a large party. The service was so bad that I would have left 10% if prompted on my own. We complained to management and will never ever ever go back. -- 12/16/2007 8:33:58 PM
