NOT a good place for vegetarians (and not a good place in general). I ordered a vegetable burrito that was described on the menu as having beans, rice, garden vegetables, tomatoes, avocados, and cheese. When I got my food, however, it did not match the description at all. It had barely any beans, NO rice, NO avocados, and NO tomatoes. The `garden vegetables` inside the burrito were gross, as they were mixed vegetables (tiny pieces of carrots, peas, lima beans, and onions) that had come from a bag in the freezer section of the grocery store (the server confirmed that this was true when I asked her about it).

The food wasn't hot, but warm. Not only was the food terrible, but the descriptions on the menu do not match the actual food that was served, not only based on my own experience, but also on that of my boyfriend. He got an egg burrito, and in the menu description, there was no sauce mentioned whatsoever. When he got his food, though, it was completely covered in a spicy red sauce.

When we mentioned these things to our server, she said that BOTH of us must have read the descriptions of other burritos by mistake, and that we were confused. We double-checked on the menu and were, in fact, correct. It was a horrible dinner (definitely the worst Mexican food I've ever had), but the manager was nice and understanding and actually gave us a discount because of all the problems we had encountered and because their menu descriptions are totally inaccurate. We will never go back.

El Tamarindo has a very friendly staff and the food is pretty good. My favorite food there is the fried fish. They really give you enough food for the cost. They are open very late to accomodate the club scene. -- 4/2/2004 8:59:49 AM
