It can be hard to decide what to order from their large multi-ethnic menu. Breakfast is served all the time, as well as lunch and dinner. They have one of the few remaining salad bars in Portland and everything is made in-house including unique dressings like Garlic Asiago and Cucumber Ginger Vinaigrette. They have three dining rooms, so if you are in the mood for people watching, you can sit in the lively main dining room and listen to jazz, or if you want a quieter atmosphere, sit in the smaller classical music dining room. ( The third dining room is for private meetings and parties.) Anyone with food allergies or special dietary needs will welcome the detailed lists of ingredients for every dish, and there are many choices for people needing gluten-free, lactose-free, etc. The children's playroom means adults can really relax and enjoy a leisurely meal--really unusual in a full-service restaurant. There's also lots of free parking and although they are across the river from downtown, the central location near-in means its a good place to meet people coming from another part of the metropolitan area. They are famous for their Hungarian Mushroom Soup and always have their own delicious Clam Chowder, as well as two changing vegan vegetable soups every day.
