FOLLOW-UP: the restaurant has expanded it's seating area after converting the market next door to provide more space. The interior is now a great-deal less cramped and suitable for larger parties. In addition, they now possess a liquor license and serve a fair variety of wines. BE WARNED: they charge a $15 corkage fee for bringing your own. While this is common practice, it came as a surprise as they had not charged corkage in the past. So don't assume you will save money (as I did) by bringing your own. - Is follow up to post by jackbox1971 ...
Either you will listen to someone who has been going there for 10 years or you will listen to someone who had a single bad experience.
AMBIENCE: Excellent. Very cozy although sometimes cramped if they are crowded. Expect 10 - 15 minute wait if you are there on a Friday or Saturday. Parking is hit and miss.
Service: I have ALWAYS received polite and friendly service. There may be the occassional language barrier but even that is sometimes fun. - On a busy night, you MAY feel rushed, but the food comes QUICK and this is ok if you need to get to the theater or a movie.
Food: I always get the same thing (the vegetable crouquettes are like sex on a fork) but I've taken everyone I know there and they always get something different - but whether its the braised lamb, the chicken curry, the yellow tail, or the fried steak, everyone is always delighted. - The potato salad is wonderful, btw. Also, their salad dressing is as strange and tasty as you've heard. A lovely appitizer.
Value: dinner for two for less than $20. -- 6/17/2005 5:46:14 PM
