This was my first time eating at CI Shananigans. In search of a good breakfast in Tacoma, I had read great reviews about the brunch and decided to try it for myself. I was disappointed. While the staff was courteous, the food left much to be desired. The French Toast consisted of those sticks you buy from Costco or Sysco that are fried. Mine tasted like Onion rings having been fried in the same oil perhaps? The eggs in the buffet pan had a hard crust on the top and tasted like the liquid eggs in a bag that come from Sysco. The cheesy hashbrowns were equally disappointing as they had the odd synthetic taste of processed hashbrowns and were a little too wet for my liking due to the abundance of cheese that oddly didn't taste very cheesy. The Teriyaki salmon was fairly decent, as were the clams steamed in white wine and garlic, however the steamed muscles were hard and chewy and the shrimp was flavorless and not deveined. The fresh fruit was very nice, and it the pastries looked quite good. The fruit crepe stand added a bit of variety, but I would have much rather ordered off of a menu and received higher quality and better prepared food than experienced the large quantity available.
