Oh, PLEASE!!!! I come , from a restaurant family, who, only, dine, in the finest establishments, and found Castaways, to be insulting!! The sous chef was taking the place of the `real` chef, the day we dined there. Everything was salty...had to send the meals back......over fried fish...... terrible service...etc....so, as you can see, we, definately, disagree, with your review. Do you run a Micky Dees'????? I am no stranger to fine dining. I am ashamed to admit it, but I have blown a couple hundred on a meal for two in the big cities. So heed my review. I first discovered this gem about one month ago. This place is outstanding. The food is delicious, the menu has great variety, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is excellent. I saw first-hand the types of people who complain about this place. They are typically hillbillies, tourists, or people trying to scam a business to steal a buck off their meals. If you are in that big of a hurry, go find yourself a nice all-you-can eat buffet with a lovely view of Old Navy and Home Depot. The service has always been prompt and courteous. Patrick and Martha are the best bartenders in the Bay area. I make it a point to try to go there once or twice a month. It is a great place to unwind and stare at the water. Go there to watch a sunset. Just wait till you catch a Tampa Bay thunderstorm while you are there! Priceless. Everytime you go, you will see something new on the inside. The atmosphere captures the essence of waterfront living. To be honest, I have stolen decorating ideas for my house from the inside. There are no bad smells on the inside, and I can smell a flea fart from 200 yards away. If you don't give Castaway's one chance, you will regret it.
