This comment cracks me up! I was a server at Le Central years ago, and I worked there for three years. The biggest reason I left was because I was tired of feeling like so much of the work fell on us servers, and was expected of us, yet we rarely recieved positive reinforcement for our efforts. Then, it's just what happened here, the servers are BLAMED for the slow service, when in reality, the servers are busting their asses, but just can't possibly give really good service when it's expected for them to translate the whole menu from French (which is the only way it appears to the diners at night), go back and make the salads, apps, and desserts ( we had to make each individual salad ourselves, some of the apps like the pate plate, and design the dessert plates for the desserts with creme anglais and raspberry sauces or chocolate) Meanwhile, you need to open a bottle of wine at the last table you left who are waiting for it while they have their entrees already on the table (after you delivered them right after you plated your salads for the other table) Then, another very eager and hungry table just sat down waiting for your glorious and animated and very informative presentation of the translation of the menu, but you can't get to them yet cause the first table you got of the evening needs to get out (cause the service has been so slow) and you need to ring up their check. AHHHH! The life of a server!! I must say though, that, other than the fact that I believe when I worked there at least, things may have changed by now, but so much of this could have been alleviated with a good salad/app/dessert `chef`, it would have given us just enough time to really give the diners a more pleasant, expedient experience. Other than that, I loved working at this restaurant, it was quaint, a fun atmosphere and the people that were drawn to work there were very much cut from the same cloth and an eclectic group of individuals that I loved and miss very much. ....- Is follow up to post by linbod ...
