I, too, have frequented `The Village` for many years and like most locals I share a sentiment that is unique to the old place. However!...While the portions are generous and the quality dependable, it is a far cry from fine dining. The atmosphere is tacky, LOUD and akin to move 'em in, move 'em out. Waitresses have worked there for years ( and I meaned worked!) and historically done fairly well because of the turnover. The food is old fashioned, standard Italian that is reliable and a very good deal but to describe The Village in world class terms is VERY misleading.

I have been patronizing this establishment longer than I can remember....yes my parents would take me along when they went out to dinner. It's the finest Italian food I have ever eaten. The portions are generous and an excellent value. -- 8/12/2006 1:16:50 PM
