To celebrate his birthday, my husband requested we go out for Ethiopian - his latest favorite. We've tried a few in the Seattle area, but had never tried Kokeb and had noticed it since it moved to its new location. We decided to try it out and we were not disappointed. Our first surprise was discovering that the honored birthday guest would have his meal on the house – a regular special offered to all who choose to celebrate their birthday at Kokeb. The combo plates were priced a little bit higher than most Ethiopian restaurants, yet considering the amount of food that each person is given and the excellent customer service, it is still very reasonable. The owner and our waitress brought out a cake, with candle and song, plus a fancy Ethiopian robe and ‘crown’ for my husband to wear – all of which added to the celebration. We’ve been back since and received the same outstanding service and yummy food, where we still felt like we were treated like royalty!
