JUST TO CLARIFY THE ABOVE STATEMENT. THE CHARGES FOR TIP ARE AUTOMATICALLY PUT IN BY THE CREDIT CARD SYSTEM. WITHIN 48 HOURS THE DEBIT IS CANCELLED. THE SYSTEM DOES THIS IN CASE A TIP IS ADDED THE AMOUNT WILL BE APPROVED. IF NOT THE SYSTEM CANCELS THE TIP AMOUNT. THIS IS NOT THE ESTABLISHMENT DOING.- Is follow up to post by finqta ...
Chateau has been a long established restaurant .. I've been going for more than 20 years through different ownerships. PROBLEM: You will automatically be billed for gratuity regardless of the quality of service and number in your party. I generally give 18% and if the service is poor .. 10% - 15%. The more serious part of this problem is that after they have added in the gratuity once, when your bill prints for signature, the tip area appears again .. EVEN WHEN YOU CROSS THE BLANK AREA OUT AND WRITE THAT THE GRATUITY HAS ALREADY BEEN ADDED IN, YOU WILL BE CHARGED GRATUITY .. AGAIN. I challenge anyone who reads this to compare your card statements to your actual bill. This has happened to mE and my friends often. I've had to contact them to correct, try only to use cash but the last straw was when it happened to my daughter.
