My first trip to the Tree Steakhouse in over 20 yrs, after recently moving back to Jax. They take reservations up til 7pm, which I recommend. Our appetizer, crab stuffed mushrooms, was poor. 5 small mushroom caps with very little crab mixture, not sufficiently broiled (the shrooms were almost still raw). Almost tasteless. The salad bar, which came with our meals, was very nice and well-stocked, making up for the appetizer. Nothing fancy, just good fresh, traditional ingredients. My son's jr. cut Prime Rib was big enough for an adult, tasty and very reasonably priced. Perhaps prepared more 'rare' than med. rare, so we'd order med. next time. I ordered the filet, which was good, but I've had better. A bit too charred on the outside, although perfectly pink inside, but with no discernable seasoning. My husband ordered the filet kabob, which was of similar quality minus the charred edges. My daughter ordered fried shrimp, which were very good. We were not as impressed as we'd hoped to be, but this was still a good meal at a reasonable price. The service was a little slow, but otherwise very good. The cook should use a little more pizazz/flavoor when preparing the food, but this is a nice place to get a good 'meat and potatoes' meal. We will definitely go back.
