La Fotana, formerly a gem of a moderately priced restaurant, is apparently under new management, If our experience last night is any indication the change is not for the better. To be fair, someone in the kitchen still knows what they are doing, Making angelhair pasta that comes out al dente and stays that way to the last bite is an art. Unfortunately, the consistant quality is gone. While some if the dishes are still fabulous, especially at the price, some of them have become strictly coffee shop. The service, while not exactly attentive, was at least pleasant. What has really killed it for us is the ambiance. Gone is the romantic lighting and piano playing, replaced by too bright lighting and karaoke, almost loud enough to make your ears bleed and keep you from tasting your food. The experience is unaccaptable. At least we have good memories of what it was.
