I recently visited Portland, and having heard about Genoa thought I would give it a try. It was food - certainly nothing that lived to the expectations placed upon it. The courses started with a few plates, including a mediocre beef tenderloin. My veal, which I had been anticipating, was well undercooked - even cold in the middle. Dessert was the highlight of the meal, simply wonderful. However, I agree with the other reviewer that a restaurant supposedly at this level should not hold its best course for the last. The wine list is impressive, and would be even more so if they actaully carried all the wines listed. The wait staff was knowledgeable and courteous, but not so outstanding as to make up for the food.
