Apparently this reviewer doesn't think a restaurant has any other costs but the wholesale cost of the crab. Note : like any restaurant, Thanh Long has numerous employess, taxes, rent , insurance , and laundry costs for all those table cloths & napkins. etc to expect a class act to give you the same price as a butcher shop is unrealistic, and bordering on `duh`. Do you begrudge Starbucks for charging $2 and up for a cup featuring just pennies worth of burnt bean juice? Gauging from your thought process on how things are priced, I suggest you stay at home, and that way you won't undertip either. - Is follow up to post by curtsap ...
Thanh Long was mostly a great experience, above most in all categories. But the market price
for a hole roasted crab was $34.95
each which I find totally unacceptable. I can buy a a whole
crab retail for around $9-10 a piece mostly anywhere in SF....
So Tahnh Long is putting $20 in the pocket per crab they prepare,
I don't think so! -- 12/23/2005 11:12:21 AM
