I want to start this: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO EVEN TRY THIS PLACE: Kitaro Japanese Cuisine in Wallingford First off, I have nothing against sushi, and as a matter of fact, I would prefer good sushi over steak. I think I have enough sushi in my life that I can make a good judgement of what good sushi is. This place, Kitaro Japanese Cuisine on 1624 N 45th St (Wallingford), is the worst sushi place I have ever had in my entire life. The food is so bad that even I went in super hunger (from a long day of moving), I came out with half of sushi I order unfinished.
Sushi is all about the quality and presentation of the food. The raw sweet shrimp looked so bad that I truely regret I even attempt to try one. The shrimp was off colored and sliding off the rice. The tobiko we ordered were came in as masago instead. The seaweed is not cut long enough to tightly wrap the rice! Not to metion uneven cut rolls and poor choice of fish.
On top of the extremely bad food is the service. It took the waiter/owner 30 minutes to get us some food, even though there were only 8 people in the restaurant! He also jack up our bill by `mistake` as well. Good that we caught that *annoyance.
When confronted by my complaint on the terrible food, the owner insisted that's the way good sushi would be because he is from Japan. What a joke! So if I am automatically the best chef from the country I was originally from? NON SENSE!!!!
I don't know how this restaurant can survive with such terrible service and nasty food quality and presentation. I am just hoping that there are enough people to read my rant and avoid going there at all cost. (edited)
