THat `old guy` playing the piano was in all likelihood my teacher whom I have known over 40 years. He is one of the finest piano players and teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area, if not the U.S., and has been playing here for 50 years. So the reviewer should stick to commenting on what he purports to be knowledgable about, and leave the music critiques to someone more qualified.- Is follow up to post by marksottilaro ...
This meal started with iceberg lettuce and
canned beets with 7 Sea's italian and went
down hill from there. Second course: anti
pasto. Which consisted of hamberger dills,
canned olives, lunchables lunchmeat, recycled
crudite and a passible bean salad.
Next course: Mmm mmm good, mmm mmm
good, that's what Este's soup is: Mmm mmm
good.
Moving on to a tiny bit of riggatoni a la chef
boyardee. (http://www.chefboyardee.com/
pages/home_flash.html) This was the
highlight for me next to the bean salad.
Then my course of Chicken Romona. As I ate
a quarter of it I couldn't help but think of how
much I wanted a nice Stoffer's Italian Chicken
parm dinner so I could be only spending $4.99
and be home in my underwear NOT listening
to an old guy play bad piano... OK, the old guy
along with the silver leaf wall plaster bits was
the best thing about this place. I was so so so
impressed by the decor... it brought me back
to my NJ Italian upbringing... but my dreams
were dashed to the floor when the food was
served. Oh, the service was decent for sure.
One of my pet peeves is throwing food away. I
hate it. I ALWAYS take my leftovers no mater
how lack luster the food is. Hey, lunch doesn't
have to be entertainment, right? Well, my
fiancee was STUNNED when I said, "Nope, I
don't want it wrapped up." That's how much I
never wanted that chicken around me ever
again. It wasn't even off tasting.. it was just
what I'd imagine they'd serve at Italian night at
the senior citizen's home. Perhaps now I'll be
better prepared for that time in my life.
