Dude, you should have had the breakfast. They do an amazing Southern spread that will satisfy any taste and appetite. You can choose from traditional favorites like country ham, bacon, sausage, or corned beef hash to more exotic fare like fried frogs legs. The pancakes are delicious as are the other items. Usually, the service is stellar. As for the lunches and dinners, they are wonderful. The menu has incredible variety, but the seafood and steaks are among the best in the area. Plus, you don't want to miss the world's greatest West Indies Salad, and the fantastic bread pudding with whiskey sauce. I'm a regular there, as you can tell, and for good reason. And, I've dined all over the world. The atmosphere at Captain's Table is like an old-school Navy club; informal, friendly, and filled with interesting photos and memorablia, located next door to the Battleship USS Alabama park.- Is follow up to post by overseastravelle ...
The food was pretty average - a little pricy for the quality. The waiter was hilarious. First he spilt the water because we asked him a question and he said he couldn't do 2 things at once (answer and pour water) but didn't wipe up the water later either. The restaurant ran out of straws and the airconditioning was a little high but it was handy to where we were staying (next door). Passed on the breakfast the next morning. -- 10/6/2002 7:47:28 PM
