Not only is this one of the finest restaurants in America, it is probably the most consistant kitchen I've ever encountered. Very little has changed since I first ate there in 1961, except the prices!. My waiter has even been there since 1969! All seafood will be memorable, esp. the Trout Margeury, the Trout Almondine, and the Broiled Pompano-all World-class dishes perfectly representing true Haute Creole cooking. The Shrimp Remoulade is better than anybody else's. Also try the Oysters en Brochette, the Fried soft-shelled crabs, the Crabmeat Maisson, and the Gumbo. Also great are the Potatoes Brabant and the Green Salad with Garlic. Everything is ala carte, and it can add up pretty fast, but individual items are really reasonably priced, considering the quality of the food. It is a very memorable spot. They are open for lunch, but the menu is the same all day. No reservations- best time to go is mid-afternoon. Also wonderful French Bread and the best coffee in the city.
