While I stand by my original review, I know the restaurant has moved, and we have not been to the new location. Because it is located in N-Fresno, I would guess they've switched to the more trendy organic-meat-type menu that N-Fresnans seem to like. Please note the date of the review, 02/03/2003.... On another note, we also had very good things to say about Senses Cuisine, which had an almost completely vegetatian/vegan menu when we first started frequenting it, but it also has dissappointingly switched to the trendy organic/fish/lamb/meat menu that so many Fresnans demand. We haven't been back there since, although a vegetarian group plans to have a dinner there in March. It seems like any restaurant that even features vegetarian food in Fresno is doomed to menu-change to conform to what most Fresnan's want- the promise of healthy/organic meat/poulty, instead of vegetarian/vegan food. Believe me, I'm disappointed, too. c - Is follow up to post by rsmotoraad ...
After dining with a vegetarian at Echo, I have to say I'm confused by your review. There were NO vegetarian selections on the menu. Not one. And in fulfilling our herbivore's request for a vegetarian meal, the kitchen presented him with a bit of cous cous and mashed potatoes topped with a few vegetables. Maybe 3 or 4 grams of protein. Echo treats vegetarians like second-class citizens.

Absolutely the freshest tasting food we've ever had. It isn't that expensive considering we have never had a negative experience there. The presentation is beautiful, the food tastes clean and uncluttered. Sauces are simple and heavenly. This is one of the few places in Fresno that knows what vegetarians (and vegans!) can eat, and accomodates perfectly. We often leave the selection of our entire meal up to the kitchen. We have brought our 2 children (2&4)on every occasion, and they were treated like royalty. We've even ordered it takeout without a glitch. Every time we've gone to a mid-priced restaurant and received inept service, were served inedible food, were lied to about ingredients, had our kids treated like garbage, and were overcharged on our bill we wish we had just gone to Echo instead. We can't say enough about Echo, and only wish that 1% of Fresno's restaurants were as good as Echo. It would be nice to find an ethnic restauarant that was as good. -- 2/3/2003 1:39:33 AM -- 10/23/2005 8:42:46 PM
