This is the worst dining experience we have encountered. (And we eat out a lot!) We were there for 2 hrs. We got to the Shanty at 5:30. Ordered our dinnters - the filet special. Went to the salad bar. 45 min. passed and a man at the restaurant asked us how our dinners were. I replied, we have not gotten dinner yet. 10 minutes later the waitress came to our table and asked if we wanted dessert. I replied, we still did not get our dinner. She couldn't believe it. Checked for our bill and couldn't find it at first. Discovered she never put the order in. By this time they were out of the special and were told that we could order off the menu `on the house`. She brought us menus. I said to her what can we order `on the house`. She said she could give us a strip steak. we ordered the steak. We got our food in about 7 min. The steak was the worst we have ever eaten. Only about half of it was edible. The rest was fat and grizzle. I complained to her about the steaks. She asked if we wanted to talk to the manager. I said yes. We never did talk to the manager. She never came around. No one ever apologized for our horrible service or the terrible food. The waitress said we could have free dessert. We did get some and then she brought the bill. On it we were charged for filet. I called her back to the table and told her about it. Never did find out what `on the house` meant. I will never ever go to this restaurant again. I was very upset at being forced to order a meal I didn not want and then get a bill for the meal when the waitress said it was `on the house.` If we had known that we would have gotten up and walked out and gone to fast food. We were not the only people with problems. We met a couple who were complaining about their meal as we walked out the door. All of us agreed that we did not have to come back to the Shanty.
