Sakura is one of the oldest Japanese restaurant's in Indianapolis. It's located just north of Broad Ripple on Keystone in an old house. If you're looking for fusion dishes, the latest trends, hip servers, or sleek decor you won't find it at Sakura. I don't think the place has been revamped since I started eating there years ago. However, the food is good and the value you get for your money can hardly be surpassed in a landlocked state where you have to fly in all your fish.
Service is spotty. About half the time my server is only working on limited English skills. The place is normaly busy and the servers are sometimes frazzled. However, I have never had my water glass or tea mug go empty.
In short, there's a reason Sakura is still keepin a full house in spite of the massive influx of sushi restaurants in the last five years. If you want to impress someone this isn't your location, but if you want a great bento and sushi that's on par or better than almost every place in Indy, stop here to have a much smaller bill.
