My father (83), took me for my Birthday, and had a reservation for 4:00pm. It was a horrible dining experience. We pull up outside to find no parking available. The doorman outside said they were `waiting` for the valet guy and he had not shown up. Luckily a car had just pulled out in front and we pulled in. We proceed to go inside and we tell them we have a reservation (4 with child). They have us standing there waiting as they are putting a table together. We ask if we should/could wait at the bar and they say sure. We have an extended wait for drinks and the bartender explains that she got slammed and the martinis that were ordered were on her. A young lady then comes to us and tells us our table is finally ready. They carry the check for the drinks over to the table. We later find out that we paid for the drinks that were to be free. We sit and are ready to order when we are informed, sorry no lobster tail tonight. How can a restaurant, known for lobster run out of lobster tail? So now we're stuck. We've already spent $40 on drinks, ordered appitizers and find out what we came for is out. I wanted to leave, but we were already invested in time. Plus, the manager explains to us that had we called ahead (???) we might have known. Are you kidding me? That's like calling a pizza place to ask if they have pizza. We wanted surf and turf. We got talked into Filet and whole lobster. Plus, let's mention the price differential. The food came fine and the appitizers were wonderful, but this whole experience was embarrasing. The staff was as as helpful as they could be - no complaints. Howeve we felt that management was less than accommodating, considering 4 adults and 1 child eating. inordinate wait + coat check + the guy who helped us when no valet. It's unfortunate that Bookbinder's had come to this. We spent $385 for basically 4 individuals and feel like we were robbed. My father has gone many times over the years and promises to never return or even indorse your restaurant to anyone else.
