I can understand your frustration. My fiance & I visited Angelo's last year and had the same experience you did in regards to the wait. Unlike you we knew that reservations were not accepted unless the party was 4 or more and by phone only. And to your point reservations don't mean a thing. People were getting irritated and complaining but we just waited it out and I'm glad we did. You don't know what you missed! The food was excellent, the wait staff were very cordial and Angelo was very pleasant. Once we got in the door we were told to wait at the bar...he didn't take our name..he said he remembers faces...and he did..within 30 minutes we were seated. Just remember you're in NY, you're in his restaurant and he doesn't care if you stay or not...for every party thatleaves there is always another waiting to take their place because they know it's worth the wait!- Is follow up to post by vadams ...
In all our years of travel, we have never been treated more rudely than at this place. The owner, who was present, the host/greeter and the waiter working the front were down right hateful to those of us waiting in line to get in. There were approximately 20 people in line, all with reservations, who were told to get in line and wait. Meanwhile, numerous groups of obvious acquaintances to the the same three were led in one after the other and had no reservation. When the host got tired of upset people in his face, he hid out at the bar with the "buddies" he just let in and ignored the line. We gave up after an hour. Reservations mean nothing, they don't care about anyone they don't know. Skip this joint unless you like being abused! -- 12/7/2005 1:05:59 PM
