I go to Charley's quite often, maybe once a month or so. I had a similar experience as yours, however, the manager explained it differently to me. The way that I see it is that they offer the Orlando residents a birthday special and they take off $21.95 of their entree. If I am not mistaken, no other restaurant in Orlando has a birthday special like that (maybe Kobe's) so technically, they don't really need to have one. Luckily that they do. The way that it was explained to me was that they had to set some guidelines when coming up with this promotion. It must be on the actual day of the birthday and with a valid Florida's driver's licence. If they bend the rules for you or I, then they must do it for everyone (because I am pretty sure that we are not the only ones that have had this issue). I do not know how the manager explained it to you, maybe he was arrogant, but I know that how it was explained to me made a lot of sense and I am just grateful that at least they do have a great birthday promotion. I am a very loyal customer and can not complain of the way that I've been treated!!

We visited Charley's last night and had a very disapointing experience. It was my Son-in-laws and Grandsons birthdays. My son in law had a drivers license to meet the photo id required but my grandson doesn't have a photo id. My daughter did have his birth certicate. The waitress was very nice but said she would have to check with the "Manager" He was indeed very arrogant. He could not make any exceptions because it was "Company policy" and would be "taken out of his pocket" if he did. He did offer a complimentary dessert for one! There were five of us all planning to have nice (and expensive) dinners. We chose to leave. It was not the $20.00, it was the principle. The restaurant lost alot more than $20.00 as did the waitress. We run a very successful business. BONE APPETIT a doggie bakery and know the most important part of business is customer service. Exceptions are common. I feel this young manager's head is a quite inflated with his "Position". He has alot to learn. We have visited Charley's before and were looking forward to having a pleasant meal. We would have been telling every one who came in our store today about our great dinner last night instead of talking about what a fool the manager is! We went to another very nice restraunt in the area, paid full price, but enjoyed a great meal. BONE APPETIT a doggie bakery -- 10/21/2005 11:49:51 AM
