Unlike `well I just finished a dinner...`, I had a wonderful experience at Bandera.I was in Chicago for a trade show and being extremely tired at the end of each day, I decided to look for a restaurant in the neighborhood of my hotel. I chose Bandera, which is directly opposite the Downtown Marriott where I was staying.
I had the salmon which was so good, I couldn't eat it fast enough. I regularly frequent good to excellent restaurants around NY, Toronto and LA and believe me, this salmon was tremendous. My only complaint is that the food arrived too quickly! I wanted to do some written work while waiting for the food but only had about 5-7 minutes to do so.
The waitresses were helpful and exceedingly charming.
So......two nights later, I returned. This time I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes. The filet was cooked exactly the way I wanted it (very pink, but not jellified) and that is a rarity - getting beef cooked exactly how I like it. The service was prompt, the waitresses very friendly once again and I won't hesitate coming back on my next trip to Chicago in October 2006.
Highly recommended!
