Why this restaurant enjoys such a good reputation is truly beyond me; it's steaks are very rarely prepared to order and, other than a certain suave ambience projected to convince the sycophants that they know what they're doing, they offer very little in the way of well prepared food. About the only thing that can be said in their defense is that they pour an honest drink and then some; presumably so you won't notice how sub-par the meals are. So, in the end, unless you're there to get smashed and be treated like *crud (did I mentikon the service was abominable?) -- there's little reason to go. Every city that offers a location offers a better value, service and food-wise, than does Smith and Wollensky. If you care about your money or your food, you'll stay away. (edited)
