After a week vacationing in Portland, our family had experienced a gamut of good eating experiences. By the end of the week, however, we were tired and wanted comfort, and simplicity. OWT's simple, stylish dining room fit my idea of decor perfectly: `good pieces, simply done.` Our server was solicitous, but not overbearing...and was patient (had to come back three times before I was ready). My husband, our daughter, and I all found comforting, nourishing food, and I was astounded when I sampled our daughter's Hungarian mushroom soup: the flavors kept zinging around my mouth and palate! We shared the thickly light (don't ask me how, but it was) Bavarian creme dessert. So rich, all three of us were satisfied. My scrambled eggs and red potato home fries were the simple stuff I needed, and were done perfectly. Whenever we are in Portland (not often, as we live on the Atlantic coast) we will always eat at Old Wives Tales. The DeJongh Family
