Our visit to Wild Ginger came after a very high, and well-deserved, recommendation from a friend. The restaurant and bar are first class. The wait staff were all highly trained, polite, and quite attentive to our needs without being intrusive. The food was absolutely wonderful. We sampled several items. From the starter list, we chose the crab cakes and the satay portobello mushrooms. The crab cakes, and accompanying sauce, were fantastic. Thick, moist, meaty, and obviously made from fresh dungeness crabs. Simply awesome. The mushroom satay was nicely grilled, and the sweet/hot dipping sauce was perfect. For dinner, we chose the wok fried whole dungeness crab, which was perfectly cooked and came with an incredible dipping sauce that I would purchase by the pint if offered! The half order of coconut curried prawns were remarkable, and the thai noodles, loaded with mussels, fresh squid, and shrimp were superb. The noodles were buttery soft and melted in our mouths. We also had a full order of the steamed clams, which were excellent and tasted just as good the next day. Incredibly, the bill, including 2 gin martinis, 2 glasses of an excellent cabernet, the appetizers, and all of the dinner dishes, was just $125. For that much food, world class service (including steaming hot hand towels and a finger bath after the crab made from a spiced tea that included a second moist, steaming hand towel), and drinks, we both felt that this was a wonderful bargain for a fine dining experience that we are sure to repeat the next time we visit Seattle. In short, this is a fabulous, well-run establishment that is more than deserving of its impeccable reputation.
