I only order my food to go. The makanuchi (SP?) is great.. infact every thing I have ever eaten there is so, so good, but the service is lousy... I think it's a family owned business and the people are paid very low wages.. no excuse... it would be a AAA+++ rest. if they would get their act together.

Recently (in 2005), my husband and I had dinner at Kikuya. We had been patrons since they first opened. Up until our LAST visit, we both thought it was great. HOWEVER, on our last visit, I ordered Teriyaki Salmon (as I have done each and every time I dined there). My salmon was awful - it was so salty it was impossible to eat more than a couple of bites. No one came to the table the entire time we were eating, so I was unable to send it back. Additionally, when our server brought our meals, I had ordered extra teriyaki sauce for my rice - and never received it. When we were presented with our check at the end of our meal, I commented that since I had not eaten more than a couple of bites of my salmon (which had consisted of four disgusting very thin slices), I did not feel we should pay for my whole meal, but we were more than willing to pay for the miso soup and the salad I had eaten. The manager was sent over and I repeated that the salmon was not edible, etc. She went back to the kitchen and when she returned, she said "they have taken off the entire price of the meal, and the kitchen says not to come back again." Obviously we were shocked and horrified at such a comment and will most certainly never return again and will make sure we pass this information on to everyone we know. Can you blame us? Not only was I fed a very poor quality meal, but the service throughout the evening from the very beginning was no longer the service associated with this restaurant in the past, AND we were insulted to be told not to return. At no time had we made a fuss or brought any attention to ourselves or the restaurant, so there was certainly no cause for us to be treated the way we were. -- 4/10/2005 8:52:10 AM
