The Mansard Inn on Abbott Road combines the sophistication of a truly great restaurant with the warmth and charm of a local eatery. The staff are friendly (and consistent) faces who are always flexible and accomodating to a diner's needs. The food is overwhelming. Portions are oversized and delicious- the alfredo sauce is homemade and tastes that way, rich with cheese and cream. The beef tips in marsala wine sauce are tender and bite-sized. Chicken Almondine, a Chef specialty, has a delicate and slightly sweet taste that is perfectly complemented by an exotic rice pilaf. The salad is topped with real crumbled blue cheese, and the warm rolls are to die for.
Drinks never make it to empty with the quick service, and in an interesting twist fresh and original recipe (struedel, honey-cornbread, garlic & cheddar) mini-muffins are served as between-course appetizers.
Overall, this is a `special occasion` restaurant where the experience is well worth the (admittedly quite moderate) price. They pay special attention to birthdays & anniversaries of all kinds. It's impossible to leave without a smile on your face (and a takeout box) !
