I love Daimonji. Perhaps it's because Nakka and Hamma greet me by name when I come through the door. Perhaps it's because Nakka and Hama slip me little morsels of seafood to try. Perhaps it's because I get a kick out of watching Nakka dance to KPLU as he slices fresh fish. Whatever the reason, I love Daimonji. I eat at other sushi restaurants. I'm a regular at Maneki and Bush Gardens. Downtown, I'll eat at Seitos, Wasabi grill, Shiro's, Nara Grill, etc. But Daimonji, in my opinion, ranks up with the tops for fresh fish. And why else do you go eat sushi but to taste the freshness of the sea? Granted, the atmosphere is not romantic. You do not go to a strip mall for romance. Instead, Daimonji is utilitarian in approach. Naka and Hamma concentrate concentrate on serving great sushi and great grilled food. I'll eat at the tatami rooms if I have four dining with me, but most usually, I sit down at the sushi bar and joke with Nakka.
