This was once the very best Chinese restaurant in the city - bar none. It was down-market and very unglamorous, but the food and service were excellent. (Hey, on any given night you could even see Rodney Dangerfield, David Caruso or director Gary Fleder holding court there!) So, what happened? Well, imagine a Chinese restaurant that is taken over by Orthodox Jews and `goes kosher`! Yep, that's right... No pork. No shrimp. None of the greasy, traife that makes a Chinese restaurant a... well... a Chinese restaurant! Even the homey decor was given a creepy makeover. Now it looks like a Coco's (which means it looks bland and pseudo upscale). I weep every time I pass by -- on my way to it's former competitor, Twin Dragon. What a shame!
