Somewhere between the plush atmosphere of Louis Comfort Tiffany's sitting parlor and Evil Kenevil's motorcycle shop lies the interesting world that is Eddie Rickenbackers Bar and Restaurant. With the emphasis on hand shaken drinks that would put a smile on the face of James Bond, Eddie Rickenbackers is a place that has to be seen then experienced to be believed. Just watch your head on the way in. There are more ancient Indian motorcycles hanging from the ceiling then their are places to attach them. Behing the bar thier is a beautiful collection of original Tiffany Lamps worth reportedly more than two million dollars. But who's counting? Oh and the foos isn't half bad either. Infact they practically give it away in hopes that you will order a few more drinks. Recently four of us grazed like pigs for just under a Franklin, $100.00. That's pretty reasonable considering the owner, Henry Africa, former owner and originator of the famed fern bar of the same name, sits quietly at the end of the smoking away at a $25.00 cigars favored by aging dictator Fidel Castro. So if you are ever in the mood for a bit of art, a huge drink and some cheap, good eats, check out Eddie Rickenbacker's at 133 2nd Street on the corner of Minna, 1 block South of Mission. Reservation at 415-543-3498
