wow..that *isn't very good. I've visited the Savoy many times over the years and have always had top notch service and food...the kind of service where you feel so guilty about the 2 busboys and the area waiter helper just hovering around your table looking for the slightes cue that you are displeased... Being KC boy, I'm sorry you got such poor service...but I have to say out of 10 times or so dining there I've never seen anything like that... I'm going back again next week, so perhaps I'll see if the restaurant has changed management and gone down hill or something... (edited) - Is follow up to post by malone ...
On January 15, 2005 my wife and I took some friends from Seattle to the Savoy because they wanted a great Kansas City steak. What we all got was laughable service with mediocre food. We were seated right away but then waited 15 minutes before a bus boy realized we hadn't been waited on. He took our drink orders. The waiter finally showed up to ask what we wanted without explaining the specials. He left without taking the menus, so I held them in my lap for the next 15 minutes until our martinis arrived (this was 25-30 minutes after we were seated). The steaks were served piecemeal with one of my guests being the last to be served. By this time, the grease on my steak had started to congeal. Several of the sides were not delivered until I asked for them. We also had to remind the waiter that we wanted wine with our meal. We finised our below average meal around 9 PM, and as we were leaving some of the staff was playing catch with a cloth napkin in the front dining room. The only good thing about the evening is that is provided us many laughs about the dining experience from hell. -- 1/26/2005 9:18:57 AM
