  VISITOR REVIEW

Although the food is excellent, on both occasions, several months apart when my husband and I dined there, there were problems with the service. Several couples were seated at the same time we were. We had actually arrived first, but I wouldn't have minded if the waiter or busboy had remembered to bring us water too. After asking twice for water, we finally got it 15 minutes after everyone else, sans ice. Upon getting our entree, it was a struggle to get a second beverage, although I saw our waitress inquire at the adjoining table of her own free will to ask if the man `cared for another beer.` Perhaps ice tea doesn't pay as well? I don't know what the problem was, if we didn't look Irish enough or no alcohol was ordered, even though I have two Irish grandmothers and if smiled at for a split second by the Irish aristocrats therein, I might have sprung for a whiskey sour. The bottom line is it felt like we were being snubbed for no reason. We had no complaints about the food, which was excellent. When we were almost done, the busboy was very prompt on removing my plate as if he were gunning for an Olympics award -- he was so quick that I wasn't able to remove my last piece of soda bread before he swiped the plate from beneath me and sprinted for the kitchen. The unfriendly waitress never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee, something we're often asked in even the `lowliest` coffee shops and diners in Brooklyn. Whether it was because they were more interested in bigger tables or what, I was extremely turned off by the attitude displayed towards us. When she finally delivered the check to us well after our plates had been removed, we quickly paid and left. I wanted to have some fond memories of my Irish heritage left.
