The restaurant was less than half full and there were 4 window tables available. We asked for a window table but were told that these tables needed to be bussed. This was a lie: the tables were clean and set. We waited at the bar. After the bartender ignored us for 10 min, we ordered champagne. We received 1 glass of flat champagne from a nearly empty bottle and 1 glass from a newly opened bottle. I asked for the flat glass to be replaced. I eventually got a new glass, but only after an argument. The hostess led us to a poorly lit table in a hidden corner. We asked again for a window table. The hostess walked us over to the central area, where there were 3 empty window tables. Just as we got there, another couple was being seated. The hostess said, “That’s too bad. These other 2 tables are set for 4, so I cannot seat you here. But I can give you one of those tables,” and pointed at a pair of tables far from the window. It was late on Sun, nobody arrived after us, but she protected those 4-person tables. We eventually sat next to the window, but only after a long, unpleasant discussion. The waiter came after 15 min. We wanted to start by ordering just appetizers but were pressured to order the entire meal. 10 min later the waiter tells us 1 of the appetizers we ordered is not available. We reordered. 10 min later appetizers arrive. The crab cake appetizer we originally ordered was nearly cold. I suspect the crab cake was made and sat for 10 min while a new appetizer was ordered and made. The main dishes were excellent. But before the main course arrived the bad experience with the entire staff and the cold appetizer ruined what might otherwise have been a great dinner. There is almost no artwork, decorative feature, plant or flower in the restaurant other than a simple blue candle on each table. White ceiling, walls & table cloths, very plain. There is cooking talent in the kitchen. But there is disorganization and serious service problems.
