This is a lovely restaurant, and the food is good. However, I think the restaurant's popularity is based more on its history as a landmark than on quality. Do not plan your day around brunch at this restaurant. Your `host` may tell you that your wait will be 45 minutes to an hour, but it will be closer to two hours. If you plan to treat someone to a special buffet e.g. mother's day, Sunday, etc... seriously consider your elderly family members or friends because this place is definitely NOT suitable for those who have trouble walking. Buffet food is spread around through different areas of the restaurant, and patrons must strategically squirm through crowds of people to finally retrieve a cool platter of unremarkable food. I would love to say that it was worth the wait, but it wasn't. I did not leave the Grand Concourse with the feeling that I just tasted a remarkable recipe or experienced the work of a superior chef. The food was strictly average. The host who handled my table was pleasant, however, the gentleman host in charge of managing the line spoke to his colleage for an uncomfortable amount of time while my family and I waited to be curtly acknowledged by him. Your family will not leave this restaurant feeling special or pampered. They will be well fed, but not better fed than if you strolled into a more casual restaurant.

This was supposed to have been a special treat for my out-of-town relatives, but it was dissappointing. If any part of the meal or service had been `remarkable`, then the wait would have been worth it, but sadly, I cannot say that anything was above ordinary. I called the restaurant in advance to ask questions about the buffet, and I was never warned about the long wait. My family and I almost missed a play because we were waiting in crowds for 2 hours at the Grand Concourse. After my experience, my advise is this: Carefully consider your scheduling needs and the quality of food you actually desire before you waste time with this restaurant.
