I’m sorry that brother or sister didn’t feel that they were treated right on their visit to Canoes. I am an African American male that will make an issue out of it if I feel that I have been discriminated against. So I think I know how they feel. However, my experience with Canoes Restaurant has been one of my best dining experiences since moving to Atlanta from Detroit. The food is good you can’t beat the view and the service has always been good. My wife and I stop by about once every two months or so and I often take clients to lunch and out of town guest to Sunday brunch (No real brunch. I like the pancakes and the fresh danish). I say check out Canoes for yourself. My wife and I will be there tomorrow for our wedding anniversary. It’s a good place to get romantic and you don’t have to deal with the parking issues like at Buckhead restaurants. G. Fields - Is follow up to post by namethebusiness ...
Interestingly, the AJC in a recent article (May 8, 2003) recalled the treatment of African-American's during the 1960's in restaurants. "The well-dressed group is directed to the dingy rear of the eatery." Similar to my recent experience while dining at Canoe. After passing approx. 4-5 EMPTY tables, I was led to the dingy rear of the restaurant. -- 5/8/2003 12:51:34 PM
